Fixing Keynote for the SmartBoard

Filed Under (Tips and Tricks) by on December 22, 2009 and tagged ,

If you’ve tried to present a Keynote slideshow on the SmartBoard lately you may have discovered that the board’s pen tools don’t work, and you can’t tap the board to advance the slideshow. There’s a simple fix for this!

  1. Launch Keynote
  2. Click on Keynote from the menu bar
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Click on the Slideshow icon at the top
  5. Place a check in the box, “Allow Expose”
  6. Close the preferences

Ta-da!  Now you’re all set to show your Keynote on the SmartBoard, use the pen tools, and tap the board to advance the show.

One thing to be aware of… this *might* be unique to the login. That means that if you have students logging on and off your laptop to present something to the class, each student would have to set this preference. The work-around for that would be for the students to save their work to the grade level share folder, which you can access from your login.
