Welcome to the Tuesday Tech Talk, bringing you some of the best web sites I’ve looked at recently, that you can really use! Great sites for this week include:
If you’ve got a wish list of things you’d like to have for your classroom, this site might be worth a look. DonorsChoose.org matches teacher requests with donors wishing to make a philanthropic donation.
This site, from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, has animated videos, with an audio option. The videos illustrate a variety of science topics that correlate with our curriculum. You’ll want to check more than your grade since topics may fall under another grade in the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt textbooks.
This site comes to us courtesy of Linda Van Wagenen. If your students are getting bored with Master Key or Dance Mat Typing you’ll want to check out the wide variety of typing tutorial sites linked off this page. Let me know if you want any sites linked from the K-2 or 3-5 student curriculum pages.
The last site isn’t quite work related, but it’s on my “Oh Wow” list. Do automated phone systems annoy you when you just want to talk with a person? If so, then you need to take a look at Get Human. It’s a website with a list of ways to get past automated phones and get to a human customer service rep. at a variety of companies.
If you like these sites post a comment and share your thoughts with other teachers. What did your students like about the sites? How do you think they helped you and/or your students?
